It\u2019s not a scene from a disaster film. It\u2019s daily life for thousands in rural India, where roads vanish in the rain, electricity is a luxury<\/strong>, and mobile signal depends on which tree you stand under.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Savitri and others in her village, infrastructure isn’t just a development issue\u2014it’s a matter of life and death.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development by Distance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In urban India, we talk about 5G, metro rails, and smart cities. In villages like Savitri\u2019s, people still wait for pukka roads<\/strong>, steady electricity<\/strong>, and clean drinking water<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lack of connectivity means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Ambulances can\u2019t reach during emergencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Children drop out because schools are too far<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Farmers can’t transport crops on time<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    Without infrastructure, opportunity cannot travel<\/strong>\u2014and so, villages remain stuck in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In a tribal village near Odisha\u2019s Malkangiri district, school children climb a banyan tree daily to attend their online classes. The school has no internet. Their village has no tower. Their future, quite literally, depends on their ability to catch a signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Some days it rains. Some days the network fails. But they climb anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Education, when denied by distance, becomes a daily act of courage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These efforts are heroic\u2014but they shouldn\u2019t have to be. Basic infrastructure is a right, not a reward.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The absence of roads is more than a geographical problem\u2014it\u2019s a symbol of institutional abandonment<\/strong>. Without roads, there’s no healthcare. Without signal, there’s no education. Without water, there’s no dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
